1958 AUTOBIANCHI BIANCHINA TRASFORMABILE 'S'. SUICIDE DOORS AND AS CUTE AS THEY COME. A FEW SENSIBLE UPGRADES. £16,995.
Possibly the cutest looking car I have had the pleasure to sell! The Autobianchi Bianchina is a Micro car based on the running gear of a Fiat 500 and it was manufactured in Italy in the late 50's. It is a rear engined, rear wheel drive car with a 4 speed manual gearbox. It is smaller than a classic Mini and yet still manages to accommodate 4 people inside. The Bianchina was available as a saloon, estate, van, full convertible and as this car is with a fully retracting roof and called the Trasformabile. The Trasformabile was the only model that came with the rear hinged suicide doors, a more powerful engine and a duotone paint finish. It is also one of the rarer 'Special' models that had even more power at a huge 21bhp from its 499cc engine. This car still has its original Italian log book from the 50's and 60's all stamped up with the owners and there is a certificate of membership of the Motor Club Historic of Italy in the substantial history file. This fantastic and very rare came came to the UK in 2014 and was sold through Coys auction house with an estimate of £19-22k in the catalogue a copy of which comes with the car. The first UK owner had the car registered with DVLA who issued an age related plate 486 UYP. He then sold the car in 2016 to the current owner who over the next 20 months prepared the car for the Microcar Liege-Brescia-Liege rally across 1600km of european roads and most of the famous mountain passes. He spent over £4000 preparing the car and the invoices are in the file. Money and time was well spent as the car proved to be reliable and finished 4th overall and 1st in class. A full report on the rally is in the file. The important preparation and upgrades to mention are the refurbishment of the engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes. The engine received the 595cc 40bhp conversion kit with an unleaded cylinder head and custom larger bore exhaust. Nanni aluminum sump, lightened flywheel, fully balanced crank assembly, new clutch, fuel pump and ignition. Other items included new brake master, regulator, wheel bearings, brake hose, inertia reel seat belts and 4 new 135/12 tyres. The cars Red and Cream exterior is in great condition as is the matching interior with the original Autobianchi steering wheel. There is a rare Tazio Nuvolari badge on the front grille. The car drives very well and is surprisingly quick when you want it to be. When you take it to a show it gets more attention than any other car there and particularly from the ladies! There are some spare parts with the car including the original exhaust and sump etc.
