1954 BENTLEY 'R' TYPE STANDARD STEEL SPORTS SALOON. AUTOMATIC. FULLY RESTORED. £32,995.

This magnificent Bentley 'R' Type (chassis # B64ZY) is a standard steel bodied sports saloon and it still retains it's original registration number of LS 6166. The car was order through Jack Barclay Ltd in Berkeley Square, London on 29th July 1954 and was dispatched by Bentley on 21st December 1954 to Barclays associate dealer in Edinburgh. The car had been ordered in Black Pearl paint (now dark Blue) with an automatic gearbox, Fawn head cloth, full sliding sun roof, fitted radio, Tan hide leather seats and Brown carpets. On the 3rd January the car was collected by it's lucky first owner Derrick Milligan of Melrose, Roxburghshire. Mr. Milligan kept the car for 15 years and only 69k miles. The car then traveled south to Reading to a Mr. Weale then a Mr. Lazurus in London before going to the Midlands to Mr. Prendeville in Birmingham then Robert Lee in Solihull. By now it was 1980 and between them the car had had moved on to 127k. In 1980 the car was purchased by Stuart Knight and he took the car with him to live in Paris and Brussels for 9 years and a further 7k miles and he would bring mechanics out from the UK to service and look after the car. The car returned in 1989 and was purchased for £23,500 by Mr. Kerry Tomlinson of Hove. He became the most significant owner as he kept the car for 25 years and spent a huge amount of money on restoring the car. In 2011 there was over £30,000 spent on mechanical improvements alone. In 25 years he only drove the car 2k miles. The final owner was Philip Bazlinton and his wife who purchased the car in 2014. Sadly Philip recently passed away and this is the reason the car is for sale. The car now has a total mileage of 140,000. Not a lot in 64 years and only 15,000 miles in the last 40 years! All this information has been found in the history file that also shows that the car has been well cared for and serviced regularly all its life. In recent times it has had a full engine rebuild with all new parts, complete brake rebuild, new chrome, new exhaust, new fuel pumps, rebuilt radiator, heater matrix, full suspension rebuild, new rear bush's, rear springs, brake master, a replacement gearbox and electronic ignition fitted. The old invoices and MOT's confirm the mileageand the car comes with the original Bentley build sheets, the original buff log book and the cars original owners hand manual.
