1965 CORVETTE STINGRAY C2 396 TURBO JET MANUAL IN MET. SILVER. FULLY RESTORED. VERY FAST AND RARE CAR. £56,995.
This stunning matching numbers Corvette is the very rare and sought after 396 Turbo Jet Big Block L78 6.5 litre model (425 BHP) with manual 4 speed Muncie gearbox and a 4.55 LSD differential. The car was produced at the GM plant in St. Loius in late July 1965 and first registered in the USA 6th August 1965. The 396 ci engine was only fitted to these cars for about 9 months and was dropped in favour of the bigger 427ci engine which reputedly had less horsepower. This particular car was owned by a Donald Bell of Pittsburgh, PA before being sold to and imported in to the UK by Corvette specialist Claremont Corvettes in the late 1990's. The car was then stored by them for 15 years before having an extensive and expensive full restoration. There are photographs in the history file of the restoration process. The engine was sent back to Corvette City in Denver, Colorado for a full rebuild and this alone cost $8000. All other running gear was rebuilt or replaced, the interior was re-trimmed in black leather and the car had a fantastic re-paint in metallic silver. Once the work was completed in 2010 the car was advertised for sale at £59,995 and was showing 44,000 miles on the clock. The car was purchased at that time by the current owner and he has added another 15,000 miles during his 8 year ownership and the car now shows 59,000 miles. The owner has continued to improve the car over this time with no expense spared and he has had a new clutch, power steering fitted, new radiator, new side exit exhausts, new tyres, water pump, shock absorbers, cooling fans, evans coolant system, wheel bearings, rebuilt LSD to name just some. The history file shows over £20,000 spent on the car. It now looks, sounds and drives fantastic and is ready for some summer fun. MOT till 27/6/2020.
