1971 LOTUS ELAN + 2 130 'S'. 4 SPEED. GREAT COLOUR
NEW LOTUS CHASSIS. REBUILT ENGINE. £15,995.
This 1971 Lotus Elan was first registered 6th September 1971. It was issued with the distinctive number KLR 39K. The colour scheme of Burgundy Red with Metalflake Silver roofis both rare and desirable. The car has had on 2 owners for 36 years from 1983 till 2019 and in their ownership the history file shows some £11,000 has been spent improving the car. It has had a new Lotus chassis, the big valve engine has had a rebuild and lots of parts replaced or rebuilt. Carbs, servo, brake master, clutch master, suspension, steering rack, starter motor, shock absorbers, springs, clutch, radiator, brake pipes, kenlow fan, piper air filter, breather tank, petrol pump, battery and a stainless steel exhaust. All in the last 5000 miles. In the last year it has had a new water pump, engine mounts, rotoflex couplings, headlamp vacuum globe, electronic ignition and a brake caliper rebuild. The interior is in oatmeal and the seats retain plenty of firmness. The radio is there but not wired in. The engine and 4 speed ford gearbox (pfreferable to the 5 speed Maxi box) are in fine fettle and the car drives very well. The exterior finish has a few marks here and there but nothing serious and this is reflected in the price.
