1978 MG MIDGET 1500 IN PAGEANT BLUE. RESTORED AND NEW ENGINE. LAST OWNER 21 YEARS. £4995.
This 1500 Midget is a great car and has just come in to us as a part exchange on an MGB roadster. The last owners had the car for 21 years and had cared for it at great expense over those years. First registered in June 1978 the car is now 40 years old and is road tax and MOT exempt. There is a large file of paperwork history with the car going back to 1981 showing that the car has always resided in the Surrey/Berkshire area and includes 33 old MOT's that confirm the mileage. Soon after the last owner purchased the car in 1997 the car was mechanically restored and treated to a new Ivor Searle replacement engine at a cost of £2500. The car was then re-painted in the correct Pageant Blue at a cost of another £2500. Since then the car has covered only 12,000 miles but has been serviced and MOT'd annually and cared for by the owner. In recent times it has had a new exhaust, Shock absorbers, carb overhaul and tyres. The car has a full tonneau cover and a hood tonneau. The hood when up is in great condition with no damage and clear windows. The car has nice chrome trim rings fitted to the rostyle wheels that are shod in almost new tyres. There are also chrome mirrors and locking fuel cap. The engine bay is very clean and the engine has an alloy rocker cover fitted with the carbs featuring a K&N air filter. The boot area is very good and houses the spare wheel and tools. The interior of the car is also very good and features a very good stereo radio/cd player with remote control and a lovely wood steering wheel. An original wheel is available if preferred. There is a workshop manual and an owners handbook with the car. The Midget drives very well indeed and is an excellent introduction to soft top classic motoring for the next lucky owner.
