1966 SUNBEAM TIGER MK1A. EX MET. POLICE FAST PURSUIT CAR. FANTASTIC CONDITION. £54995.
This is a genuine 1966 Sunbeam Tiger that was first registered to the London Metropolitan Police on November 1st 1966. VIN Number: B382002380 HROFE, JAL 662385.
Jensen Build Date 26th August 1966. JUL 390D is one of only 4 late MKIA Sunbeam Tigers acquired by London's Metropolitan Police in
1966. The Tiger went into service at the Hampton police station in
Middlesex and during its brief 2 year service was widely used as a pursuit
vehicle on the new London motorways (M4/A4) for catching speeding
motorists. This one is a particularly nice example that has been owned for 15 years by the current owner. Much research was
completed into the Metropolitan police Tigers during his ownership. The
Tiger was reunited several times with Sergeant Police drivers formerly
based at the Hampton police station. A large history file comes with the
car that has a lot of old in period pictures, history, old MOT's and invoices etc. Fully restored and equipped with some original police
equipment it has the Police radio, Winkworth bell and two tone siren fitted and working. It is said the Police sign was on the rear of the car so as to keep up a
‘Q' car appearance in the rear view mirror of the pursued. The Tiger is
fitted with a 302 cu in engine and comes with a fully restored hard top
in matching paint, Dunlop safety wheels but otherwise to a standard specification. Featured
in Practical Classics Spring 2012. The car has been used regularly over the years for local shows, longer trips and continental touring and has proved to be fast, fun and reliable transport. MOT and TAX exempt but the car has an MOT with no advisories to 22/5/2020. There is even a model of the car available!
