1964 SUNBEAM ALPINE S4. 1600cc. OVERDRIVE. JUST HAD FULL RESTORATION. WEDGEWOOD BLUE. £16,995.
This is a 1964 Sunbeam Alpine Series 4 with a 1600cc engine and 4 speed/overdrive gearbox. It is finished in Wedgewood Blue which I think is the best colour for these cars. 1st registered KMG 856B on 24th August 1964 it is now 56 years old and both Tax and MOT exempt. The mileage is showing 12,900 so we must assume that it is 112,000. An old mot from 1993 in the history file shows the car at 12,204 miles so it has only done 700 miles in the last 27 years. Nothing known before 1993 when the car was purchased by a Kenneth Hicks of Pulborough. It was the cars next owner Tim Collins who started to update the Alpine. By 2010 the car was still in Sussex and now owned by a chap in Bexhill who stripped the car down to restore it but unfortunately passed away before he could complete the job. His friends at the local car club took up the challenge for him and completed the full restoration in 2019 spending over £9000 on parts alone. Their labour was free and the final bill would have been well over £20,000. The car had been stripped to bare metal, restored with new panels and repainted. Engine was rebuilt and gearbox overhauled. All new brakes, clutch, suspension, polybushed, brake/fuel lines, radiator, chrome fittings, rubber seals, new hood, stainless exhaust, 4 branch manifold, new Weber carb, stainless bumpers and new wiring loom. There is more in the history file. The car has been waxoiled for future protection and is ready to go for the summer season.
