RPE 459E was first sold to a Mr. May of Egham on 25th July 1967. The large history file shows on the original green log book and later invoices only 5 owners in total over the next 50 years. The car is showing 15,000 miles on the speedo and this is the mileage since the car was restored. The car has been very well looked after over the years and the long term owner from 1984 - 2010 a Mr. Holding upgraded the car in the 90's with a 1275cc engine, 5 speed gearbox and servo assisted brakes. These upgrades added more performance and cruising speed with better braking. The wood frame was replaced at this time and all the work was carried out by the specialists at the Morris Minor Centre. The car was also treated to a new stainless steel exhaust system, suspension rebuild, new steering, brakes, fuel tank, chassis rebuild, new wings and a repaint in Smoke Grey. Since then the car received even more work by Mr. Holding in 2009 when the car had new pistons (now 1298cc) and an unleaded cylinder head was fitted. It also had new hubs, servo, brake master, trunnions, radiator, alternator, steering column and engine electrics. The next owner Miss. Loveys had the car from 2010 -2016 and continued the maintenance on the car before selling to the last owner Mrs. Ogle. In the last 2 years she has had the car serviced twice and had new brake shoes, battery and shock absorber fitted. With the mechanical upgrades fitted this car drives very well and has a good turn of speed for a Minor. The underside is very solid and the car has just passed an MOT with no advisories. The interior is very clean and a nice place to be with the addition of both front and rear inertia seat belts, a good quality CD/radio stereo hidden behind a wooden panel, oil pressure gauge and a water temp gauge. An ideal car to use and enjoy. I have just drived over 100 miles over the bank holiday to a classic car show without any problems.
